About AMI 3-6 training course

3–6 Diploma Course Overview

The 3–6 Diploma Course is an AMI-accredited teacher training program designed to prepare adults to become skilled Montessori educators for the Primary (3–6) age level. The course follows the guidelines of the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), and upon successful completion and graduation requirements, students are awarded an AMI Montessori 3–6 Diploma, a qualification recognized throughout the world.

Our mission is to train educators who can support the holistic development of young children, including emotional stability, intellectual curiosity, independence, self-esteem, self-discipline, and social development.

Program Content

The curriculum includes:

  • Montessori Developmental Psychology

  • Practical Life Activities

  • Sensorial Education

  • Language Education

  • Mathematics Education

  • Cultural Studies

  • Observation and Teaching Practicum

  • Montessori Material Preparation

  • Written, Practical, and Oral Examinations

Diversity and Participation

We welcome participants from diverse backgrounds, ages, and cultures. Many international and multi-background students join our program. Entry is open to students who have a working understanding of Japanese, as classroom instruction and practicum activities are conducted in Japanese.
 

Practicum Opportunities

Teaching practicum is carried out at schools where AMI-qualified guides are present. In addition to the affiliated practicum sites listed on this page, students may arrange practicum at other appropriately equipped Montessori schools with AMI-qualified staff (consultation required).

Diploma Award

Upon completion of the entire course and fulfilling graduation requirements, including all examinations (written, practical, and oral), the AMI Montessori Diploma for the 3–6 level is awarded by the Association Montessori Internationale.
