Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Can I enroll without experience or qualifications in childcare or early childhood education?
A. Yes.
No prior experience or qualifications in childcare or early childhood education are required.
Upon successful completion of the course and passing the graduation examination, students are awarded the AMI Diploma (Certificate of Completion) from the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI).
This diploma is internationally recognized and accepted in Montessori educational settings around the world.
Q. What is the content of the entrance examination?
A. The entrance examination consists of document screening and an interview.
The interview may be conducted online or in person, according to your preference.
Q. Is there an age limit for admission?
A. No, there is no age limit.
Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds, including:
-
Currently working childcare professionals
-
Those planning to enter the field of childcare in the future
-
Mothers returning to study after raising children
-
Individuals from entirely different professional fields
-
Retired professionals seeking a new path
Graduates range in age from their 20s to their 70s, and approximately 10–20% of our students are male.
Many students discover new professional and personal directions through the course.
Q. What is the difference between daytime and nighttime classes?
A. Tuition fees, curriculum content, and the qualification awarded are essentially the same for both the daytime and evening courses.
The main differences are in the length of study, the structure of teaching practice, and the class and practice schedules.
Length of Study
-
The daytime course is completed in one year.
-
The evening course is completed in two years.
Teaching Practice
-
In the daytime course, teaching practice is conducted during periods designated by the Institute.
-
In the evening course, many students balance their studies with work, and therefore arrange their own teaching practice schedules.
Please note that the number of designated practicum sites for the evening course is more limited than for the daytime course, and practice on preferred dates cannot be guaranteed.
Opportunities for Material Practice
-
Daytime students have material practice time before and after lectures, allowing for ample hands-on practice.
-
For the evening course, face-to-face classes are held once per week (6:00–9:00 p.m.), and Fridays and Saturdays are designated as material practice days.
Q. Are there any requirements to obtain the qualification?
A. Yes.
As this is a course accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), students are required to meet the conditions set by AMI.
The main requirements are as follows:
-
A minimum attendance rate of 90%
-
Submission of all required assignments by the specified deadlines
-
Completion of the required number of teaching practice sessions and submission of the corresponding reports
-
Successful completion of the graduation examination
Q. I live outside the area. Do you provide a dormitory or housing assistance?
A. We do not have a dormitory.
Therefore, students are generally expected to arrange their own accommodation.
However, if vacancies are available, we may be able to introduce apartments owned by our Honorary Director.
If you are interested, please contact us in advance for consultation.
Q. Please tell me about teaching practice.
A. Both daytime and evening students are required to complete a specified number of teaching practicum sessions at affiliated Montessori schools and other designated schools.
Please refer to the practicum site list for each course for details.
Evening course students arrange their own practicum schedules and submit applications accordingly.
Please note that once a practicum schedule has been approved, it cannot be canceled, so students are asked to adjust work and personal commitments before submitting their schedules.
Q. Can I enroll while raising young children?
A. Yes, it is possible.
There are affiliated Montessori schools adjacent to and near the Institute, and some daytime course students attend the program while their children are enrolled in these affiliated schools.
Please be aware that the course requires significant time and commitment outside of class hours, including assignments, material practice, and practicum preparation.
We encourage prospective students to consider whether they can participate comfortably with the understanding and cooperation of their family.
If you have any concerns or specific circumstances, please feel free to contact us.
Q. Can I find employment after graduation?
A. Each year, Montessori schools that implement Montessori education seek AMI-qualified teachers, and job opportunities are regularly available.
If conditions are suitable, we may be able to introduce graduates to potential employers.
Please note that employment is not guaranteed.
However, in Montessori educational settings, there are many opportunities where AMI diploma holders are highly sought after.
Q. Can I enroll if I cannot speak Japanese?
A. As lectures and most practicum activities are conducted primarily in Japanese, students are required to have a working understanding of the Japanese language.
That said, many international students have successfully graduated from the program, and depending on the course content, English interpretation by the trainer may be provided.
If you have concerns about your Japanese proficiency or participation in the course, please contact us in advance.
We will be happy to discuss your individual situation.
